The project provides tailored learning programmes for new and emerging communities, including refugees and asylum seekers. The projects plans and delivers educational and sports activities, these help overcome some of the language and communication barriers.
The educational sessions help children and young people with English language and Maths skills. These help to increase their confidence, communication skills and self-steam. Our project supports families with school mediation and helps them with school settlements.
Our sports sessions encourage children and young people to speak English throughout to help to increase their English skills and have more confidence to engage successfully with other communities. There are many important life values that are experienced through participating in sports, these include respect, following rules & regulations, teamwork, encouraging others, taking responsibility, dealing with success and failure. Some of the new and emerging families engaged with the project at present include; Syrian, Somalian, Eritrean, Libyan, Kenyan, Jamaican, Algerian, Iraqi, Sudanese, Tanzanian, Nigerian, Yemen, Zanzibar, Egyptian, West Indian and Spanish.
